Who she is

A woman built by endurance

Carla Nelson has been a business owner since 2001 — opening her first day spa at 23 years old. For more than 20 years she has worked directly with women in real, sustained conversation. She has been married to Caleb Nelson since 1999 and has homeschooled and raised five children in a faith-centered home.

In 2019, Carla faced a diagnosis that changed everything. She did not step away from her responsibilities. She stood on the Word of God — and was declared cancer-free on February 25, 2020. She does not call herself a survivor. She is an overcomer. That distinction matters to her.

She shares all of it — not because it makes a good story, but because someone reading this right now needs to know it's possible to come through.

She stayed when it would have been easier to step back.

Through every hard season — she remained present as wife, mother, and leader. Her authority comes from that consistency, not from a credential.

She is trusted because she is real.

Not because she performed well. Not because she has a platform. Because the people around her have watched her live it — quietly, steadily, over years.

She has led small groups since the late 1990s.

Long before anyone called it ministry. She and Caleb opened their home for decades. The voice followed the living.

She is a stabilizing voice, not a trending one.

Calm. Direct. Grounded. She speaks from what has been proven in real life — not borrowed from a book or a stage she hasn't earned.

What she builds

Three areas of focus

Primary — via Post & Gate
01

Marriage & Family

Co-creator of Built for Marriage. Co-founder of Post & Gate. For years she and Caleb have mentored couples walking through real tension — not in a classroom, but in their home, their community, and across a kitchen table. Twenty-seven years of marriage is the credential.

Secondary — Declared
02

Ministry in Everyday Spaces

Carla has hosted small groups since the late 1990s. For over a year she and Caleb ran 'Salon Church' — opening her business as a gathering place because ministry has never required a stage. Just someone willing to open a door.

03

Women, Mothers & Wives

For more than 20 years Carla has worked directly with women — in her salon, in small groups, in mentoring relationships that go deep over time. She speaks to mothers and wives from the inside of that life, not from a distance. She has lived what she teaches.

How she thinks

The beliefs that hold

These are not borrowed ideas. They are observations from 25 years of living, leading, and watching what actually works inside homes and marriages.

Carla is calm. Not loud. She is direct, not harsh. She does not perform. She does not rush to speak. When she does speak, it is because something has been proven in real life before it was ever said to anyone else.

Faith is proven in daily living, not public display.

The home is the primary assignment.

Strength is built through consistency over time.

Emotional reaction without clarity creates instability.

What is repeated becomes culture.

What is tolerated becomes normal.

What is modeled gets multiplied.

Her platform

Post & Gate

Post & Gate is the ministry Carla co-founded with her husband Caleb — built around Deuteronomy 6:9. The Word on every threshold. Every rhythm. Every room. Through Post & Gate they walk with couples who are ready to build a Kingdom marriage, not just a better one.

Carla co-hosts the Post & Gate podcast alongside Caleb. Raw. Unscripted. Two real people who've lived it — talking about marriage the way real couples actually talk.

The book

Built for Marriage

A 30-day couples devotional written from 27 years of real marriage. Not polished theory — truth that has been lived, argued over, prayed through, and passed down.

Each day includes Scripture, honest reflection, and one simple step to take with your spouse. No overwhelming sessions. Just a few focused minutes that can change the tone of an entire evening.

Speaking

Available for women's events, marriage conferences, and faith-centered gatherings.

Carla is not a motivational speaker. She does not offer hype or a program. She offers the perspective of a woman who has been tested — by business, by marriage, by the hardest kind of trial — and who came out the other side standing on the Word. That is what she brings to a room.

Signature talk — Faith & Healing

Declared

In 2019 Carla faced a diagnosis that should have ended everything. It didn't. This is the story of what it looks like to stand on the Word when standing is the only thing left — and what God does when you refuse to move.

Signature talk — Marriage

Built, Not Found

The marriage you want isn't waiting to be discovered. It's waiting to be built. Carla and Caleb have been married 27 years — through devastation, illness, and seasons that would have ended most. This is what they learned about choosing each other on purpose.
